The furniture is built by a small shop in Ohio, three men who have been making poly lumber furniture long enough to have opinions about it. We stock what we can on the lot out front and order the rest to your color.
Poly lumber is high density polyethylene, the same stuff milk jugs are made of, cut and worked like lumber. It does not rot, splinter, crack or need staining. Screws, chains, ball bearings and eyebolts are stainless steel, so nothing rusts down the line. The color goes all the way through, so a scratch does not show a different color underneath.
A four foot Adirondack glider uses 1,153 recycled jugs. The octagon picnic table uses 2,424. That is not marketing, it is printed on the manufacturer’s own spec.
